Welcome
Here at Bláithín (little flower), I create unique, handmade gifts, using the slow craft of punch needle embroidery.
I fell in love with this craft a few years ago and I love designing new pieces inspired by nature, the Irish language and folk art. Each piece is handmade loop by loop using the slow process of punch needle embroidery which is centuries old , making a resurgence in recent years. It is a tactile, textile art - perfect for creating cosy, touchable art.
I try to be as eco-friendly where possible - using cotton yarn and cotton fabric. The square wooden frames are Irish made and the hoops are made in Europe.
I also have a range of eco-friendly greeting cards. All designed, illustrated and printed here in my studio in Kildare. The card (corn crush) is made using the by-products of corn cob production, using recycled Kraft brown envelopes and biodegradable corn starch bags for packaging.
Each piece you see in my store is lovingly handmade with care and consideration. Please enjoy having a browse.
